I don't know if anyone here listens to the Doug Loves Movies podcast, but at the end of the show is a trivia game about movies, and fans can submit categories to Doug Benson to use in the game.

This weekend they were recording some of the shows in Seattle and I submitted "Movies Danny Elfman Has Physically Been In"... and he picked it!

Edited - I heard the wrong information. They DID pick it (first!) and the answer was Elfman's role in 'Back To School'. Anyway, I was pretty excited about this all day.

Though he probably won’t be cloning and killing himself every single night, Hugh Jackman could soon be portraying another type of risky entertainer. He’s set to star in a Broadway musical based on the life of Houdini written by Aaron Sorkin with music by Danny Elfman, lyrics by Glenn Slater and direction by Jack O’Brien.

So when will Jackman hit the stage as the master escape artist?Collapse )

Just in case anyone needs this info:
Houdini, a musical based on the life of the escape artist, with music by Oscar and Grammy winner Danny Elfman, lyrics by David Yazbek ("The Full Monty," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"), and book by Kurt Andersen (the novels "Heyday" and "Turn of the Century"). Hugh Jackman will star. Directed by Jack O'Brien ("Hairspray"). Original target opening: spring 2010. No new dates announced. (source)

If I find a definite opening date, I will be sure to update everyone.

Anyone planning on going? Want to go? Angry that you live on the wrong coast (that's me!)?

Thought I'd post an interesting conversation with film composers, including the ever-awesome Danny Elfman.

The other composers are A.R. Rahman, Howard Shore, Alexandre Desplat, and Jan Kaczmarek. Enjoy!

Well, here I go again. :p

Funny, this batch actually started in July. And I'd be like 'well let me just add a few more, then I'll post it'. And then I'd say that a few more times, till here we are in December and I have this folder of 64 icons. So I thought, 'well before it gets any larger, I better post it'. :p

So here ya go!

Oingo Boingo x 10
Danny Elfman x 54

I'm just curious here....

What happened to the admins of this community? They were both the admins here and over at _oingoboingo_. It appears both of their LJ's have been deleted. And they were the only maintainers. :|

I don't have any complaints or anything, but seeing as both comms are still active it'd be nice to be able to keep things fresh. By changing layouts and such. *shrugs*

Sooooo...anyone know?

Danny Elfman, Alan Rickman, and Christopher Lee have signed on for Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'

As for the new names attached, they are: Alan Rickman, Christopher Lee, Eleanor Tomlinson and composer Danny Elfman. Now if your like me, three of those names just made you smirk a bit. There's no word what role Lee will be stepping up to, but I'm sure it'll be pretty damn cool. And we all know Elfman is a fantastic composer, so no worries there. Lee and Elfman are no surprise, being frequent Burton collaborators, but Rickman? That's awesome! That's not all either... apparently Rickman will be playing that tokin Catapillar! Word also dropped that the previously attached Michael Sheen will be the Chesire Cat and that Tomlinson will be Fiona Chataway, a friend of Alice's in a role not found in the prior tellings of the story.

I drew a pic of Danny. :)

Recently a video surfaced of Danny on the red carpet for the premier of 'Wanted', you can view the whole video HERE.

In the short interview he talks about he recorded The Little Things in not only English, but also in Russian. I was wondering if anyone had heard it, or has it? I am desperately trying to get my hands on this song.

Thank you for any help.
